I need help setting up an "8" page booklet using two pieces of 8.5 x 11 paper in landscape. Each side of the paper will have two pages appearing. Side one of the first piece of paper needs page 8 next to page 1, Side two of the 1st piece of paper needs page 2 next to 7. Side one of the 2nd piece of paper needs page 6 next to page 3. Side two of the 2nd piece of paper needs page 4 next to page 5. , I want to print two pages of the booklet on each side of the paper. When I print the document, I need it to start with page 8 next to page 1. On the back side I need page 2 beside page 7. On the 2nd piece of paper I need page 4 to appear next to page 5, and on the back side of that paper, I need page 4 to appear next to page 5.

I've tried using the MS templates, but those are designed for one page only per side of paper. Any ideas?

    Hello there,

To create an 8-page booklet using two pieces of 8.5 x 11 paper in landscape, you can use Microsoft Word to set up your document correctly. Here's a step-by-step guide to achieve your desired layout:

    1. Open Microsoft Word and create a new document.
    2. Go to the "Layout" tab in the top menu, and then click on "Orientation." Choose "Landscape" to change the paper orientation.
    3. Next, click on "Margins" in the "Layout" tab and select "Custom Margins." Set all margins to 0.5 inches. This will give you more space to fit multiple pages on one side of the paper.
    4. In the same "Margins" dialog box, go to the "Pages" section and choose "Book fold" from the "Multiple pages" drop-down menu. Word will automatically adjust the margins to create a booklet layout.
    5. Your document will now show the correct booklet layout with two pages appearing on each side of the paper.
    6. Start by typing your content for pages 8 and 1 on the first side of the first piece of paper. For example, page 8 on the left side and page 1 on the right side.
    7. Move to the second side of the first piece of paper and type pages 2 and 7. Place page 2 on the left side and page 7 on the right side.
    8. Now, move to the second piece of paper. On the first side, type pages 6 and 3. Place page 6 on the left side and page 3 on the right side.
    9. Finally, on the back side of the second piece of paper, type pages 4 and 5. Place page 4 on the left side and page 5 on the right side.
    10. Review your document to ensure that the pages are in the correct order and layout.
    11. When you are ready to print, go to the "File" menu and select "Print." In the print settings, choose "Print on Both Sides" or "Print on Both Sides, Flip pages on short edge" to print your booklet correctly.

I provided you a similar topic that could possibly help you, quick fixes and troubleshooting found here: (Create a booklet or book in Word) https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/create-a-booklet-or-book-in-word-dfd94694-fa4f-4c71-a1c7-737c31539e4a or (8-page booklet) https://help.gnome.org/users/evince/stable/duplex-8page.html.en

Please note that the actual printing process may vary depending on your printer and its settings. It's a good idea to print a test page first to ensure that the pages are in the correct order before printing the whole document.

Let me know if these help, and I hope this helps you create your 8-page booklet successfully! If you have any further questions or need additional guidance, feel free to ask.

    Hi Ivan:

I followed all the instructions above, but in the print dialog box, I do not find 'print on short edge. Also the print preview does not show two pages on one piece of paper.

These are the margins selected. I don't even tell it how many pages in the booklet leaving 'all' selected.

and this is the error message i receive:

when I select 'fix' it sets the margins impossibly narrow:

    Frustrating.

This appears to be a printer driver problem, nothing to do with your original post. What print result do you get if you Ignore the margin warning?

You shouldn't choose 5.5x8.5 paper if you are actually printing to 8.5x11.

    Should I choose 5 x 8.5 paper size?
