I have received and email today to say me account will be disconnected at midnight. I can’t get any help from anywhere. The help.Microsoft.com is nonexistent and cannot speak to anyone. It is very worrying as don’t know if the email is legitimate. Can anyone help?

    Hi Ian Y,

I’m Gunasekar and I will be happy to help you with your question, I am a Microsoft consumer like you.

First, any email address or phone number included in a post is automatically filtered so no one can see what was entered. In that case could you please attach a screenshot?

Treat all unsolicited phone calls/ emails with skepticism. Do not provide any personal information. If you receive an unsolicited call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft, please hang up or if it's an email please ignore it. Microsoft does not make these kinds of calls or send scam emails.

Examples of Genuine e-mails (how to tell its scam):

Phishing and suspicious behavior (Related article for your reference)

You can address the issue on the device and then they can report this at

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/concern/scam?rtc=1

Note: Microsoft Will not block/disconnect any active User accounts. The disconnected message will be only sent if the inactive for more than a year or if you have ruled out Microsoft terms and conditions. If you did not do anything, do not worry about the e-mail received.

If you can login tomorrow on your Microsoft account, it is then probably a spam message.

I hope this information helps. If you have any questions, please let me know and I’ll be glad to assist you further.

    Best regards,

    Gunasekar N
