iPad: cell properties

Can’t find how to edit cell/column properties

E.g.: I have a column WEIGHT: “185 lbs”, “195 lbs”, ….

I have a column HEIGHT: 6’ 2”, etc.

Excel decided that HEIGHT was, in fact, a date and automatically converted it to June, 02

Can’t find any way tell excel how to format cells/columns data type, so that “lbs” is a descriptor and height is feet and inches

Btw, help (lightbulb) and Search (?) direct me to MSoft site which shows windows application stuff and “smart lookup” shows me pictures of Greek columns !

It must be in a menu somewhere. . .

???

Thanks - my question was only about data type.

There is no “Data Type” under the Data tab after selecting a column.

Only one of your references is regarding iPad, and if you were to look at that

you would understand the uselessness of that webpage.

    Hi,

I'm Ajibola, an Independent Consultant here and a Microsoft user like you. I don't work for Microsoft and cannot access any of your data on their system.

You can format cells in Excel on iPad in several ways. To format cells with bold, font color, or font size, select the cells and go to the ribbon to select changes. To apply Excel styles, select the cells and select Home > Cell Style and select a style. To format cells that contain text, number, or date or time values, use an icon set. To format only top or bottom ranked values, use an icon set. To format only values that are above or below average, use an icon set. To format only unique or duplicate values, use an icon set¹.

To change the data type of a column in Excel on iPad, you can follow these steps:

    1. Select the column you want to change.
    2. Tap on the "Data" tab.
    3. Tap on "Data Type".
    4. Select the data type you want to apply to the column².

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
