Word will automatically create a fraction like 1/2, but it won't for anything else like 1/5. How can I change it to include more fractions?

Standard fonts only have 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 as special fraction characters.

The Cambria Math font has a few more:

For anything else, you'll have to insert an EQUATION field or an equation.

Or see Formatting Fractions for a macro that can format fractions.

To insert these fractions "automatically as you type," you'll need to create AutoCorrect entries for them.
