how do I remove the default table style from all new Excel documents?

I want to remove the default table style from Excel 365 workbooks. I found some instructions that haven't worked. The one that seemed the most knowledgeable suggested creating a new Excel file, selecting from the Home menu "Format as Table", saving one of the styles with a new name, removing all the formatting, and then saving the file as a template workbook. It hasn't worked either. I thought it would be easy to change the default setting but apparently, I'm missing something. Any suggestions on how to remove the annoying style will be much appreciated.

saving the file as a template workbook. It hasn't worked either.

    Additional Information:

If your language in Excel is not English, the names of the templates are different!

    For English versions use:

    Book.xltx as workbook template

    Sheet.xltx as worksheet template

Make a new file and look how the file and sheets are named, example for a German version:

A new file is named "Mappe1" and the first sheet is named "Tabelle1"

Therefore the templates for German versions are:

    Mappe.xltx as workbook template

    Tabelle.xltx  as worksheet template

First thing to know is the there is an unformatted table style already. Suppose you select the range A1:B13 and press Ctrl+T, Enter. You have a new table with the default style. Choose Table Design and open the Table Styles drop down. The first choice in the Light group is None. Pick that and all styling is removed.

Second you can make this the defualt style for this document. This time start with a formatted table and choose Table Design, and open the Table Styles drop down and choose Clear (at the very bottom). (another way of doing the above). With the table selected choose Table Design and open the Table Styles drop down and choose New Table Style, near the bottom, and in the Name box type Default. Click the Set as default table style in this document check box (see below) and click OK.

Now to make this the default table style for all new workbooks you need to add it to a default workbook.

To setup a default workbook open a blank workbook and create a (temporary table) and use one of the approaches above to create a blank default table style. Then remove the table from the file. You now need to save the file with a specific name and to a specific location. The file should be named Book.xlsx and it should be saved to C:Usersuser nameAppDataLocalMicrosoftExcelXLStart

But the actual location of the XLStart folder depends on your version. Here is a general discussion of that: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/office/troubleshoot/excel/use-startup-folders
