How to advance to next slide after video ending in Office 365 Powerpoint / Windows 11 ?

I included some MP4 videos in my Powerpoint presentation and the "Next sheet after" (tab Transitions) is set to 7 seconds.

These videos should start automatically and go to the next slide automatically too, after ending.

It turns out that all tips on several sites to achieve this, do not work in my Powerpoint of Office 365 and Windows 11.

Does anybody know the trick to achieve this automatic advance sheet after video ending on my computer?

I don't understand Juhn Jac's suggestion to set the presentation to loop until stopped. I understood that you wanted to play the video normally, then go to the next slide when the video ends, automatically, w/o having to stop the video or anything.

It should work if you set the video's animation settings/playback to start With Previous so that it starts as soon as you display the slide that it's on.

Then in the Transition tab, set the slide advance to occur after, say, 2 seconds; any value will do, so long as it's LESS than the duration of the video; the advance won't happen until after the video finishes.

Thanks Juhn for the very quick response.

I have Office 365 family (5 licenses). The Powerpoint version is 2307.

I 100% followed your instructions but than the video is played again and again when ready. Is this due to the check box "Loop until Stopped."? If I do not check this box, the video ends and a black screen is shown without going the the next sheet.

    So still not solved.

    Hi MattVerhaegh

    Greetings!

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

We understand that you need help with this concern. We will work together to achieve your desired resolution.

For me to better understand the issue, I’d like to ask a few questions:

    1. What is the edition of your PowerPoint 365? ex. Microsoft 365 Family.

To advance to the next slide after a video ends in PowerPoint, you can follow these steps:

    1. Select the video on the slide.
    2. Go to the Playback tab in the ribbon.
    3. Under Video Options, check the box for "Play Full Screen."
    4. Under Video Options, check the box for "Loop until Stopped."
    5. Go to the Transitions tab in the ribbon.
    6. Under Timing, set the "Advance Slide" option to "After:" and enter the duration you want the slide to be displayed after the video ends.
    7. Save your presentation.

With these settings, the video will play in full screen mode and loop until stopped. When the video ends, the slide will advance automatically after the duration you set in step 6.

We look forward to your reply.

    Sincerely

    Juhn Jac

    Hi Steve, Juhn,

Indeed I know this approach from other forums, and tried it multiple times. But is does NOT work for my Powerpoint of Office 365 Familiy and Windows 11. The ending of the video results in a static black sheet. Only after 2 times "any key" it advances to next sheet. So it seems to be a bug of Office 365 Familiy or Windows 11.

    Any other suggestions?

    Matt,

Thanks for the link. I can reproduce the problem exactly as you've described it and even with the settings I suggested, it still misbehaves. Yet if I add a new slide just before it, add a random video and choose the suggested settings, it behaves *exactly* as you'd like your video to behave.

I've had no luck with your slide though. Mystified!
