How to add additional rows to a banded row table in Powerpoint?

Have a banded table, but having difficulty adding new "sets" of 4 rows with first being banded. So if I insert below to add a new row under the banded row, it creates a new band but that does not do me any good as the next rows need to be unbanded. Any clues appreciated.. thx

Before you waste a lot of time. Table banding is applied (or not) to the whole table

NOT to selected rows So you really cannot do what you need. You might be able to partially fake it by manually changing the color of the darker banded rows to the light colour making sure the bottom row is NOT altered.

I can't repro this, but you might try removing the checkmark next to Banded Rows, inserting the new row(s), and then putting the checkmark back next to Banded Rows.

    1.

I insert a new Title and Content slide to a Presentation.

    2.

    I click on:-

    Insert Table

     - to open the window called:-

    Insert Table

     - and change this to read:-

    Number of columns: 5

    Number of rows: 5

     - then click:-

    OK

    3.

I now click in any cell in the Table then:-

    Table Design tab

    Table Style Options group

Remove the tick from the field called:-

    Banded Rows

     - so that that field’s blank.

    4.

I now highlight the cells in any given row and then:-

    Table Design tab

    Table Styles group

Click on the drop down arrow to the right of:-

    Shading

     - and click the required colour.

The row gets the chosen colour.

    5.

I can now add any rows I like and give them any banding colour I like by using the process described at number 4..

Does that give you what you want?

    Hi WW M

Thank you for posting to the Microsoft community.

I understand that you are having difficulty adding additional rows to a banded row table in PowerPoint. I'll be happy to assist you with this.

Before anything else, let me ask you the following questions below so that I fully understand the problem.

    • Can you send us screenshot showing the issue?
    • What version of Office are you using? Microsoft 365 Personal? Microsoft 365 Family? Microsoft 365 Business Standard? Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise? Office 2016? Office 2019? Office 2021? I specifically need the Product name and Version number as highlighted in the guide and photo below.
About Office: What version of Office am I using? - Microsoft Support

To add additional rows to a banded row table in PowerPoint, you can follow these steps:

    1. Select the row below where you want to add the new rows.
    2. Right-click on the selected row and choose "Insert Rows Below" from the context menu.
    3. This will insert a new row below the selected row, but it will also inherit the banding of the row above it.
    4. To remove the banding from the new row, select the row and go to the "Design" tab in the ribbon.
    5. In the "Table Style Options" group, uncheck the "Banded Rows" option.
    6. This will remove the banding from the selected row and any subsequent rows you add below it.

If you want to add multiple rows at once, you can select multiple rows before right-clicking and choosing "Insert Rows Below". This will insert the same number of rows as the number of rows you have selected.

I hope this helps you add additional rows to your banded row table in PowerPoint. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask. Additionally, here is a helpful article on working with tables in PowerPoint:
