I would recommend at least the free Acrobat Reader from Adobe.

Shalom_409 tells you about opening pdf files in Word; in my opinion you do not want to do this because it converts the file to Word format, generally imperfectly.

The reader will simply open the file for reading, not editing.

Word itself lets you save a Word document to pdf format in two ways.

Save As and choose pdf as the file type, or

Print to Microsoft Print to PDF printer driver.

I have the full Adobe Acrobat which lets me edit pdf files, as pdf files. There are free and lower-cost alternatives available as well if you want to be editing pdf files.

    Hello ,

I'm Shalom and I'd happily help you with your question. In this forum, we are Microsoft consumers just like yourself.

To open and save PDF files in Microsoft Word for Microsoft Office 2013 (commonly referred to as "Microsoft 11"), you don't necessarily need Adobe Acrobat. Microsoft Word has built-in PDF handling capabilities. Here's how you can do it:

To Open a PDF in Microsoft Word:

    1. Open Microsoft Word.
    2. Click on "File" in the top left corner.
    3. Choose "Open."
    4. Navigate to the location of your PDF file.
    5. Select the PDF file you want to open.
    6. Click "Open."

Word will attempt to convert the PDF to a Word document for editing. The success of this conversion may vary depending on the complexity of the PDF.

To Save a Word Document as a PDF in Microsoft Word:

    1. With your document open in Microsoft Word, click on "File."
    2. Select "Save As."
    3. Choose the location where you want to save the PDF.
    4. In the "Save as type" dropdown menu, select "PDF (*.pdf)."
    5. Click "Save." This will save your Word document as a PDF.

    Best Regards, Shalom
