It depends on what type of columns you're referring to. For parallel columns the suggestion to use a Table is valid. However, newspaper [snaking] columns (which wrap from one column to the next) you need to use the Column tool from the Page Setup group on the Layout tab of the Ribbon or select Format> Columns in the main menu..

    Dear respected KELLY P1,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

As per your description, in Word for mac, while active in a Table you may click where you want in your table to add/setup column and then click theĀ LayoutĀ tab (next to theĀ Table Designtab on the ribbon) and in the ColumĀ group you will see icons (Insert LeftĀ orĀ Insert Right) that youĀ can select for addingĀ what you want and setup as per your needs.

If there is any misunderstanding, I apologize and please feel free to post back to us with more detailed information for better understanding and guiding you further.

Appreciate your patience and understanding and thank you for your time and cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Waqas Muhammad
