Comments in Planner Don't Generate a Notification unless You've Left a Comment

Good afternoon

I understand that Planner Comments work the way Microsoft Support describes. Is anyone aware of the possibility that comments will generate a notification to those assigned to the task whether they have made a comment or not? I see the Task Card Comments as a communication/collaboration method for the task. If I don't go into Planner and comment, I won't see what others have communicated about the task.

I understand this may not change, but I had to ask.

Thanks!

Kim

Hello Kim, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Support.

I understand that you are looking for a way to receive notifications for comments on tasks in Planner, even if you have not left a comment yourself. But we are sorry to convey that currently the default design of sending notifications is that Planner only generates notifications for comments if you have left a comment on the task. See: Comment on tasks in Microsoft Planner - Microsoft Support

We understand the inconveniences it may have caused but we sincerely suggest sending your feedback to the Planner product development team so they can get informed of this inconvenient user experience and find a way to improve this behavior. See: How do I give feedback on Microsoft 365? - Microsoft Support or Planner · Feedback Community (microsoft.com)

Meanwhile, there are several scenarios that the group members or added members will receive the email notifications automatically: Manage Planner notifications - Microsoft Support

Appreciate your patience and understanding and thank you for your time and cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Mia | Microsoft Moderator
