Color Coding Sharepoint Online Calendar

Trying to color code a sharepoint online calendar by a selection column, I have ensured the desired column is selected in the calendar view and when i choose conditional formatting it still will not change the colors. I've tried different Json Code and everything.

    1. When I try to create a new calendar under calendar overlay, the dropdown menu of List and List View seemed to be blank. I'm not sure if there is anything that I can do to create a new calendar overlay that is linked with my current listing (calendar).
    • You need to click the button Resolve, then the lists and views you create will appears.

    As I know, SharePoint calendar only can be displayed in classic view. About the modern view Calendar you mentioned, could you please share some pictures? So I can better understand your requirement and help you.
