Office 365 word save as pdf font Times New Roman not embedded

Problem Description:
I find that the font Times New Roman in windows 10 is not embedding when we run a save as pdf in Office 365 word.
To create a pdf we use the following settings:

Times New Roman is part of the base 14 fonts who will not be embedded according the following link:
Font Embed Issues - Microsoft Community

After creating a document with all base 14 fonts in word and creating a pdf file, only the font Times New Roman isn't embedded.

Is there a reason why all base 14 fonts are embed except Times New Roman?

System Information:
Windows 10 version 22H2 - Build 19045.3208
Word office 365: Version 2305 Build 16501.20242
Times New Roman Font version 7
Unfortunately, it's not possible to attach my word and pdf file I created in this post.

I am running into the same issue - Times New Roman does not embed into PDFs generated from Microsoft Word 2016.

    Dear Bart Vantomme,

Thanks for writing back and updating us.

Apologies if my previous reply caused any inconvenience but we have just shared our test result.

As per the further updates, I have opened the another converted PDF in the Adobe Acrobat where I didn’t notice the change in Font but you were right, Times New Roman font is not embedded when checked in the properties via Adobe Acrobat:

    Dear User,

    Good day!!

Apologies for the inconvenience caused and please don’t worry, let’s work together on your concern and move towards a resolution path.

I understand your concern and I have tested the behavior in the latest version of Semi-Annual channel of the Word app with the Times New Roman Font and following settings when saving it as PDF:

Document with Times New Roman: Saving it as PDF: Document saved as PDF:

I noticed the document saved as PDF with the same font in the Word document and since you mentioned the problem happens only with the Times New Roman, can you please launch the Word application in the Safe Mode and check the outcome? Reference: Open Office apps in safe mode on a Windows PC - Microsoft Support

If still the same, can you please check whether the same problem happens with other Office apps as well? Moreover, if you use Print feature and use Microsoft Print to PDF instead of Save As, do you encounter the same problem?

Thanks for your patience and understanding. Have a good day!!

    Best Regards,

    Sophia
