Can you add the Microsoft 365 F5 Security & Compliance add-on to users with a Business Standard base license.

Good afternoon.

Would appreicate if somebody could answer a license query please.

Is it possible to add the Microsoft 365 F5 Security & Compliance add-on to users with existing Business Standard licenses in place, or Is it required to have the Microsoft 365 F1/F3 (or Office 365 F3 and Enterprise Mobility + Security E3 license in the first place.

There is a requirement to enable DLP and Teams archive for compliance reasons.

    Good day!

    To answer your query, in both cases, at least a Microsoft 365 E3 is a prerequisite. While assigning the licenses, addons will appear based on the base license. Since these are Enterprise license add-ons, you can't assign them to a business subscription.

    You can start a trial with the Microsoft 365 E5 Compliance but this will still need at least the Microsoft 365 E3, Office 365 E3, and Enterprise Mobility and Security E3 as the base license.

    Thank you kindly for confirming, I thought that was the case but just wanted to be sure.

    Just a last follow up question if I may.

    In that case am I correct in saying with the current Business Standard license that users have, or even if they were upgraded to a premuim license, I would be able to purchase and assign one of the below add-ons without an issue.

    • Microsoft 365 E5 Information Protection and Governance
    • Microsoft 365 E5 Compliance

    From your description, I understand that you have a query on adding the Microsoft 365 F5 Security & Compliance add-on to users with a Business Standard as the base license. After further consults, I'm afraid this is not feasible. Generally, this can be purchased as an add-on to the Microsoft 365 F1 and F3 subscriptions.
