Why isn't there an option to make one page view the default when opening a new page.???. we are a few months from 2024 and an update has not been made to make this an option. I'm not talking about making a macro. There needs to be an option to have 1 page view as default. Is it that hard to write it into the program???

Here's how to set one page view for new documents:

    1. Choose File>Open>Browse in Word.
    2. Copy and paste this text into the address bar, then press Enter:
      %appdata%\Microsoft\Templates
The dialog opens to your Microsoft Templates folder.
    3. Select Normal.dotm, then click on Open.
    4. Set the document to your preferred view.
    5. Make a small change to the file, like typing a space.
    6. Save the file.
    7. Delete the space.
    8. Save the file again, then close it.
    9. Test by creating a new document with File>New>Blank document.

In recent versions of Word, the most recent view that you selected before you closed the last window in a Word session is also the view that will be "recreated" the next time you start the program.

If you want something more sophisticated, try Jay Freedman's add-in SaveViewLocMulti (see https://jay-freedman.info/). The add-in restores the capability of older Word versions to save the view and zoom (among other settings) with individual documents.
