Print layout

When I print my two page document from word online, it changes the layout increasing spacing, txt size etc. so it goes over 4 pages.

I have page breaks in the relevant places and layout is perfect until I go to print. It isn’t just on one document either.

Any thoughts?

If the reading view looks the same as the actual printout, which one would expect, then you know that the underlying problem is caused by formatting in the document.

The truth is that Word Online is not a very good choice if you want to stay in control over the formatting in Word documents.

If you can't install a full version of Word/Office, you can try open source software such as LibreOffice. Its word processing component, LibreOffice Writer, creates documents that are fairly compatible with Microsoft Word.

Also, if you want to, you can share a problem document with the forum, and I'll take a closer look. You can post a share link in a reply in this thread.

    Thanks for the follow-up.

What do you see in the Reading view in Word Online? It should provide a more accurate view of the document (compared to the Editing view). Line spacing and page breaks are typical causes of trouble. The changes in font size are more unusual, though.

It is a quite common issue with Word Online that the formatting changes when you switch to the reading view. This is because Word Online doesn't fully support the formatting which is available in the full version of Word that you can install on a Windows (or Mac).

If possible, upload a couple of screen shots for illustration.

If you download the document as a PDF to your local computer, does the PDF look and print properly?
