Highlight marker not looking good when printing or exporting to PDF.

Hello.

So i have some printed documents in my OneNote notebook and I use the highlight marker to highlight the text and other markers to take some notes.

I have to print some pages of my notebook (such that 2 pages fit in one sheet of paper (because that's what i need)) and when i do it, the highlight marker barely lets me see the highlighted text. This also happens when I export the page to a PDF file (see the screenshot of a piece of my notes).

I tried exporting to XPS, DOCX, DOC, and the problem is not solved.

Any solutions?

Or should I give up and let Microsoft ignore this issue?

I use Windows 11, and Microsoft 365.

I'm experiencing the same problem, using One Note (Office 365) on Windows 11. I just repaired Office 365 as explained above, and I'm using a notebook created a couple of days ago (I'm been having this problem for quite some time!).

Any other suggestions? Here an example of a double solid black marker line on my name: first screenshot on One Note, second on the printed (or exported, its the same) PDF file.

EDIT: I just checked. On the online app, the same page looks like this:

It seems to be a problem with the markers...

    Dear Naj_35,

Thanks for your feedback. I'm sorry I misunderstood you.

I redid the test, but I don't seem to be experiencing the same situation

So I still want to ask you to try my previous suggestion.

Trying the above steps can greatly help us reduce this phenomenon, thank you for understanding that sometimes the initial suggestion may not help you immediately, if you still experience this situation, please inform us of the following information:

    • The version information of Onenote you are using (File - Account - version information)
    • If you create a new notebook, will this behavior still occur?

    Sincerely,

    Tin | Microsoft Community Moderator

    Hello Tin

I'm sorry if my description was not clear enough.

    What I do is:

    1. Open OneNote and insert a printed copy of my document.
    2. Over my printed document what I do is Highlight with the marker, from the Draw menu (I have a pen tablet).
    3. Now I print or export to PDF the page that has the document highlighted, with some aditional notes, taken with the other drawing tools.
    4. The PDF looks like the image I shared.

    Thanks for answering.

    Dear Naj_35,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

Based on your description, my understanding is that when you print the content in your OneNote notebook to other file formats, the highlighted text shows an exception.

I don't seem to be experiencing the same situation in my tests, here is a screenshot of my tests:

Please check if there are any updates of Office. You can update your Office applications in the following ways: Open OneNote -> File -> Account ->Update Options ->Update Now.

If your Office has been updated to the latest version, you can also try the following methods:
