Disabling access to third-party apps, deactivates OneDrive which is Microsoft app.

Hello!

***Removed PII***

Path: Family Safety -> Child's account -> Manage Consent -> Manage this child's access to third-party apps -> Disabled child's access to third-party apps.

My child needs permission to use games and apps that aren't published by Microsoft. Without my permission, my child will only be able to use Microsoft games and apps like Outlook.com, OneDrive, Xbox Live, Bing, Skype, Windows, and Office.

Though activation of this function is promising that Microsoft Apps will work, it doesn't. Please look into it. And fix that. I can see a lot of people reporting the same issue.

That is definitely the reason because when I enable permission to use third-party apps, OneDrive starts to work.

I have tried to remove consent and add my son again it worked for one day. Now the same issue.

Many thanks,

Fatima

    Hello FJ2023

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are having trouble with OneDrive not working when you disable access to third-party apps for your child's account. Let’s work together in finding the best resolution to this issue.

When you disable access to third-party apps, it restricts your child's access to apps and games that are not published by Microsoft. However, this should not affect the functionality of Microsoft apps such as OneDrive.

To troubleshoot this issue, I suggest you try the following steps:

    • Check if OneDrive is installed on your child's device and if it is up to date.
Sign out of OneDrive and sign back in again.
Restart your child's device and check if OneDrive is working.
If the issue persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling OneDrive.

We look forward to your next response.

    Regards,
