The strikethrough formatting you mention indicates that Track Changes is activated. You could reject changes to get back text ranges that have been marked for Deletion.

Thanks for the update and for the clarity, Sinikiwe Nkosi.

I'm sorry to hear that you lost your work. If the version history only shows 1 and 1/4 pages instead of the 4 pages you had, it's possible that the missing pages were not saved or were not included in the version history.

To try and recover your lost work, you can try checking the AutoRecover feature in Word. To do this, open a new Word document and click on "File" > "Info" > "Manage Document" > "Recover Unsaved Documents". This will show you a list of unsaved documents that Word has automatically saved.

If this doesn't work, you can also try checking the Recycle Bin on your computer to see if the missing pages were accidentally deleted.

If neither of these options work, unfortunately, it may not be possible to recover your lost work. In the future, it's always a good idea to save your work frequently and make backups to prevent data loss.

You may also want to check this link for your reference regarding the option provided: How to recover unsaved Word documents - Microsoft 365 Apps | Microsoft Learn

    I hope this helps.

    Kind regards,

    Mae Sev.

The current document is empty as i lost my work through cutting my work then exiting the work document by mistake. It shows every change I had through the version history but only shows 1 and 1/4 pages instead of the 4 pages i had. It shows a version when I didn't finish working, to when my work is scratched over with a line and now empty but none show all my pages. I hope I made sense

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Support. I understand that you are having issues with the version history feature in Microsoft Word. I'll be happy to assist you with this concern.

To better understand your concern, I will be asking you few questions:

    • Was this working before?
    • Are you able to see the full document in the current version of the document?
    • Have you tried accessing the version history feature to see if the pages are available in a previous version?
    • Are you able to see any other changes made to the document in the version history feature, or is it only showing the cut portion with the line over it?
    • Have you tried restoring a previous version of the document to see if the pages are available in that version?
    • Can you provide us a screenshot of the issue please? It would be a great help.

You may want to proceed and try performing the following in order for us to check, to view the complete version history of your document, you need to make sure that the version history feature is enabled in your document. To do this, please follow the steps below:
