How can I sort Planner tasks within buckets by due date automatically as I add them?

I use a Kaban-style board sorted into buckets for each project. Frustratingly, I cannot figure out how to sort the tasks within a bucket by due date automatically. Currently, if I want to see the most urgent items at the top and least urgent at the bottom, I need to manually drag the task down... which does not scroll down well, so I often need to drag & drop, drag & drop, drag & drop... until it arrives where I need it.

How could I keep this same Kaban-style board format (not list, grid, or schedule view) and have each column sorted by due date, even when I add a new task in?

    <removed>

We should be able group by bucket and due date simultaneously.

Ridiculous users have to even ask for this function.

    Do better.

    Hello Mitchell,

    • To sort Planner tasks within buckets by due date automatically, you need to use the Group by option in the upper right corner of the board view.
    • Select Due date from the drop-down menu and the tasks will be grouped into buckets based on their due dates, such as Today, Tomorrow, Next week, etc.
    • You can still see the original bucket names under each task card, and you can change them as needed.
    • When you add a new task, it will automatically go to the appropriate bucket based on its due date, and you can adjust it later if you want.
    • This way, you can keep the Kaban-style board format and have each column sorted by due date without manually dragging and dropping the tasks.

    Hope this helps!

I do not believe this is what the OP was asking for. Our team just converted to Planner...only to discover we can't organize our "Buckets" by due date?!?

This is a fairly sizeable oversight on this kind of program and should be a basic feature.

Please advise as to the status of the being built.

    Thanks..

Absolutely agree. This does not answer my question or solve my issue. Grouping everything by due date is a completely different style of organization and more or less negates the usefulness of using buckets in the first place. Might as well use a tag at that point.

I have just stumbled across this short-coming... Surely this is fairly basic functionality of a planning tool - to be able to view the Board with tasks sorted in date order!! Please microsoft - get this sorted!

Exactly true. I want my the tasks WITHIN a bucket to be sorted in some way by date... astonished that this is not possible.
