Issue trying to remove Personalized Domain in outlook.com with Office 365 Family membership

Hi,

I own an office 365 family membership. I added my domain to my outlook.com via "premium"=>Personalized email address and all was good. I started receiving emails for my domain in my outlook inbox.

I had to move the domain to Google Suite, and went to the google suite domain management and had it automatically update the MX records (et all) on GoDaddy (where my domain is hosted),

I went back to my outlook.com account and tried removing the personalized domain. This is where the trouble started

The "Your domain" section has a note in red: "We couldn't connect to the domain ****** cancel setup and try again"

PROBLEM:

**The personalized domain would not get removed from outlook.com**

Trying to cancel setup given an error "there was a problem removing your alias"

In the Members section trying to remove the address gives the same error (in the "your domain" section).

Things I tried

* I tried removing the alias (my account at the private domain) from the "accounts.microsoft.com" profile. - Didn't solve the problem, I can remove and re-add it and outlook.com keeps allowing me to add it as an alias

* Email sent to this address is received and sent from google suite - as expected

* This email/ alias is still appearing in the "send from" in outlook. when sending an email "FROM" this personalized email address (i.e. my domain) I get a rejection email from outlook.com saying: mx.google.com gave this error:This mail is unauthenticated, which poses a security risk to the sender and Gmail users, and has been blocked. The sender must authenticate with at least one of SPF or DKIM. For this message, DKIM checks did not pass and SPF check for [******.com] did not pass with ip: [**********].

* I checked the MX records in GoDaddy using https://mx****/ and they point to google suite as expected, SPF and DKIM are not defined (as the error message indicates)

* it's been several hours now (should have been updated within an hour per MX record and DNS settings in GoDaddy)

HELP???

48 hours have come and gone, and unfortunately I am still getting the same error - "there was a problem removing your alias".

Can you reset this from the backend?

    Thank you Sola.

There was only one member to the personalized domain. It was (is) the domain admin.

There was an alias to the outlook account. I deleted that one (it was never the default | sign in alias).

The only option left is waiting for 48 hour for the DNS to propagate. Hope that will solve the issue. I will report back in 48 hour.

    Thanks again!!

    Hi Gil,

    Thanks for contacting us,

    • One reason why you are not able to remove your personalized domain from Outlook.com is that there is a delay in the propagation of the DNS changes. Sometimes it can take up to 48 hours for the DNS changes to take effect across the internet. You may need to wait for some time and try again later.
    • Another reason why you are not able to remove your personalized domain from Outlook.com is that you have not removed all the aliases or members associated with your domain. You need to make sure that you have removed all the aliases or members that use your personalized domain before you can remove the domain itself.

    I hope this helps you!

    Regards, Sola
