Hello,

I have created models using BPMN shapes in Microsoft Visio Plan 2 version.

I am trying to save the model with .BPMN 2.0 extension, but those extension is not available in the dropdown.

I have *.VSDX *.VSSX *.VSTX, etc.. formats, but any format regarding BPMN is not available.

Can anyone tell me how to get those BPMN extension types while saving the models.

    Dear Rupesh D,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft community. We are delighted to offer our assistance.

I understand that you want to save your BPMN diagrams in Microsoft Visio Plan 2 with the .BPMN 2.0 extension, but you cannot find that option in the dropdown menu. I’m sorry to say that Visio Plan 2 does not support exporting or importing BPMN diagrams in the .BPMN 2.0 XML format. This is a limitation of the current version of Visio Plan 2, and there is no workaround for this issue.

However, if you have access to Visio Professional 2016 or Visio Professional 2019, you can use those versions to export or import BPMN diagrams the .BPMN 2.0 XML format. To do this, you need to install the BPMN 2.0 Modeler for Visio add-in, which is available for free from here. This add-in will enable you to save your BPMN diagrams as .BPMN files and also import .BPMN files into Visio.

Alternatively, you can use other tools that support the .BPMN 2.0 XML format, which allows you to create BPMN diagrams and export them as.BPMN files.

Have a nice day and keep safe.

    Sincerely,

Does that mean you've found it for not free?

Unfortunately, Visio doesn't support saving to XPDL. There might be third-party converters available for that purpose, though I've just done a quick search and didn't locate any.

I have found the templates that are BPMN 2.0, but there is still no way to save it in this format. I have not been able to find any plugin to make visio save it as an XPDL 2.2 file.
