Split from this thread.

Hi Reza,

I have had the same problem. I have not paid anyone anything but the original issue of a full mailbox. I also can not access my junk mail in my Hotmail/outlook, and I need access to these emails as sometimes there are important ones that still seem to end up there. Please see below for email content.

All bolded within the email itself were hyperlinks. The hyperlinks at the top I have tested and login is required, so this is what I have received. I have also downloaded onto an external hard drive all of my photo, video, email, and doc's content in an attempt to empty both Hotmail and Gmail (Onedrive), but I clearly have not.

Only answer I can think of right now is that they're being greedy. I just got the same issue, was wondering why I hadn't received emails for over a week. 2.4GB/15GB Email storage used but I can't send or receive emails because my Microsoft storage is at 5.1GB/5GB used when email attachments shouldn't count towards Microsoft storage or OneDrive but it seems like they don't give you a choice. Literally no point of having the separate Email storage then. This is such nonsense, it all seems kind of shady right now as if to make people buy extra storage. I'm gonna move to Gmail at some point if they keep this up.

One solution that may work well depending on your needs is to go to your OneDrive > My files, then select any files with a large size that shouldn't have been backed up to OneDrive but was auto selected, and delete it from OneDrive. I had a 4.4 GB file that I didn't need backed up at all but it was auto selected and took up almost all of the 5GB of Microsoft storage.

yes what if we dont want to buy that new MS-365 bargain? Microsoft is now counting email attachments stored in outlook against the 5GB free storage with one drive even though you stay below the 15gb storage thats free with outlook. WHY ARE EMAIL ATTACHMENTS THAT ARE NOT STORED IN ONE DRIVE COUNTED AS AGAINST THE 5GB LIMIT IN ONE DRIVE?

I don't know. I'm asking someone now who may know the answer.

If you have safely downloaded all your OneDrive data to an external drive and if you don't want to use OneDrive anymore then you can delete the files in your OneDrive at onedrive.live.com. Then you need to clear out the deleted files in the recycle bin at onedrive.live.com also.

But before doing that, have you cleared out the deleted mail in your Outlook and Hotmail accounts? There is a recycle bin there as well that you need to empty.

Did you check out the bargain for Microsoft 365 Basic here that should solve all your problems without deleting anything?:
