I've been added to chats, and get all of the messages as text messages, however when i open the app none of the chats or messages are in the app, and I can't figure out how to get them to be sync'd. Any advice?

I had the same issue but your first troubleshooting step didn't solve my issue. Any other troubleshooting steps to try?

Have you ever check the app permission?
Ensure that GroupMe has the necessary permissions to access your phone's storage and network. Go to your phone's settings, find the GroupMe app, and review its permissions.

I signed out and back in and it worked. I also went to settings on my iphone and then to the groupme app in settings and toggled the reset button before signing out. Not sure if the reset does anything though so i'd try that last.
