How to resolve "This product can't be installed on the selected channel due to the conflict with Cloud Update" error when installing O365 from university account?

I am trying to install MS Office 365 on my machine through my university account. I previously had Office through an employer, I did a complete uninstall using the Microsoft office support and recovery assistant. Both before and after I removed the old copy of Office 365, I got this error: "This product can't be installed on the selected channel due to the conflict with Cloud Update". I have not seen any community pages that cover this error. Please help me identy what cloud update is causing the problem if I have signed-out and uninstalled the other copy. How do I get the office programmes installed?

I have found a similar help query that only mentioned an issue with the selected channel that could be solved through interacting with the local policies in regEdit, but since i have uninstalled Office365, there is no policy to modify, yet the problem persists.

I have some workaround. I haven't got key with PerpetualVL2021, so I temporary renamed officeupdate to officeupdate_old in path Komputer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\cloud\office\16.0\Common\

    Next reboot PC.

Office365 and Project was installed succesfully.

    Hello S.T. UK,

Thanks for posting the query here in this forum.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble installing Microsoft 365 applications.

Since the old office has been uninstalled using the SARA tool, go to:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\OfficeUpdate

Delete content (key) in the Office Update folder, "PerpetualVL2021".

Once deleted, sign into https://portal.office.com/ using your university account.

Select Install apps, then select Microsoft 365 apps.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions.

Bro, I haven't got this key PerpetualVL2021 either, and using your method, I managed to solve the issue after researching for 2 hours to get Office. Thanks a million for your help!!!

    Update on the problem.

None of the recommended solutions worked, most of them were a repeat of the FAQ which I read before submitting the problem.

The gumf about deleting files from the Policies folder seems to be a solution if you are trying to install over a partially uninstalled previous copy.

I did identify the issue in the end after about three hours of passive aggressive clicking - a OneNote file was still pointing at an old directory that I no longer had access to and was preventing everything else from properly syncing. I deleted this OneNote project and tried again and this seemed to solve the problem.

Hopefully everyone else with a 'Cloud update' error can resolve their problem in the same way - check whether files are trying to sync to a directory you no longer access.

Le souci n'est pas résolu sur la machine sur laquelle je travaille.
    Même message d'erreur.
