it instead tries to get me to download the Forms app but that's not what I want. I have previously saved specific forms to my home screen which still work however I can't save any new ones. I'm on samsung android and using Samsung internet. I click the 3 little dots when viewing the form but 'add current page to home screen' is gone.

They are forms I need to fill out daily for work so the homescreen shortcuts were so valuable

I have this issue too and a workaround

(This issue is also reported here on Reddit for someone on ipad ‘Add to homescreen’ Microsoft Form taking me to ‘welcome to forms’ page? : r/Office365 (reddit.com)

I used to be able to add a shortcut to a MS form using Add to home screen but that link is missing whenever I load a MS form into Chrome on an android device.

This is really unhelpful as I want to share the form's link with many people and they can no longer simply create a shrotcut on the home screen for it.

They do not want or need the Forms app - just a webpage where they can submit their answers.

Come on Microsoft - can you take a look at this and fix it.

I did find a work around - it is not an ideal solution but it is something to be going on with.

In 3 words: do it offline

    In more words:

    • Be sure to uninstall the Forms app if you have it installed (if you need it installed see below)
    • Get the Form URL onto the android device (for example send it to yourself in an email or in a message)
    • Turn off wifi and mobile data (you can do this by enabling airplane mode)
    • Open the form link - it will open Chrome and show the No Internet dinosaur (playing the dinosaur game is optional)
    • tap on the 3 dots and Add to home screen. your shortcut is created :O)
    • turn on wifi and/or mobile data (turn off airplane mode)
    • Your shortcut should now work!

If you need the Forms app installed on your device either uninstall it while you create the shortcut or create a tinyurl for the form url and create a shortcut for the tinyurl while offline

This is a Microsoft issue. Chrome and Firefox both do the same thing.

It's absurd that users have to come up with a solution to such a widely-used navigational approach on mobile phones.

The issue has clearly been caused by Microsoft (the "Add to Homescreen' function is available on other web pages).

Why did Microft change this great tool and why can't it rectify the issue?

Moderators can you please report this issue and escalate it?

    Thanks George yes MS Forms.

So I've tried in both Chrome and Samsung internet and both browsers are instead trying to download the Forms app instead of just saving the current webpage to my home screen. Attached two screenshots showing my options. You can see add to app screen (downloads app) and install app.

The weird thing is that yesterday I did save it to my homescreen however my colleague was running into this problem too so I deleted my shortcut in order to try save it again and from there I have encounted this issue. But then my colleague was able to save the webpage as a shortcut so it works sometimes it seems.

I have also restarted my phone and cleared cache and cookies and also tried an airplane mode workaround I saw online however that didn't work.
