Why does Word transcription service produce so many periods from an audio file?

I've been transcribing audio files in MS Word and often find that the transcript will have too many periods, even when the speaker is not taking a deliberate pause. I also find transcripts involving conversations tend to be overperiodized, whereas if it is a TV interview, it is fine. Any tips on how to avoid or fix the over-periodizing?

    Hello

I’m Adeyemi and I’d be happy to help you with your question.

The Word transcription service uses automatic speech recognition (ASR) technology to convert spoken language into written text. This technology is not perfect and can sometimes make mistakes, such as inserting too many periods. The transcription service is just a tool to help you transcribe audio files. It may not always be 100% accurate, but it can save you a lot of time compared to transcribing audio files manually.

Just ensure you speak clearly and slowly; the ASR technology works best when the speaker enunciates each word clearly and speaks at a moderate pace A good microphone can significantly improve the accuracy of ASR technology.

Also, ASR technology can have difficulty distinguishing speech from background noise. Try to minimize any background noise when recording.

    I hope this helps
