Hi and thank you for your answer. I have asked Word to download a template. It worked for years. Recently it doesn't download anything and doesn't connect when I try to get to "help"

'doesn't connect when I try to get 'help'"

Are you getting a "Something went wrong..." message with language about your Internet connection when you try to get help?

This is an intermittent problem with Microsoft's servers and they are working on it but it is apparently a very difficult problem to troubleshoot. That may be related to not getting templates.. It likely has nothing to do with your Internet connection.

If you search for templates, what happens?

(please see previous link on how to ask a question.)

Did you find the template in File > New searching for a template?

Do you have a location specified for new Office templates in your Word options?

When you double-click on the template, what happens?

Please describe exactly what it is you are doing to try to get Word to download a template.

Most of my templates are custom created because I have found those supplied by Microsoft to not make good use of Word's features even if they are good starting places.

Did you tell Word to use a template?

When you do, it downloads the template and creates a new document based on the template.

At least, that has been my experience.

The location should be in the folder you have designated for saving templates.
