Upgrading Office 2011 14.7.2 to Office 2021 on MAC

I've read that I need to update Office 2011 14.7.2 to 14.7.7 to successfully export an OLM file to import calendar, emails, and contacts to Office 21. I can't find 14.7.7 anywhere. I have years worth of contacts, calendar, and email info that I need to save. I also read that any .doc or .xls files will need to be saved as a .docx or .xlsx or I won't be able to open them after the upgrade. I'd like this to go smoothly, one can hope :)

    Hi

You don't have to uninstall Office 2021 first.

Outlook knows where to look for the old Outlook database file (assuming you're using the same Mac as before). If it can't find the old file it will prompt you to locate it in the Documents folder.

If you are installing Office 2021 it means that you will no longer be able to use Office 2011, as that version is 32-bit and any operating system in which Office 2021 runs is 64-bit. You can never run 2011 and 2021 simultaneously unless you use a virtual Machine in Parallels.

If you plan to stick with just 2021, once you have imported all your Outlook content you can remove Office 2011

There are some things you might want to keep from 2011, such as templates and themes. They will work with 2021.

    Hi

I think if you use AutoUpdate in Office 2011 it will update properly.

Alternatively, you can obtain the 14.7.7 Office 2011 update from this web page:

My Mac OS is Mojave 10.4.6. One of the main reasons I bought Office 2021 is so that I can update to the latest Mac OS, as I know that Office 2011 won't run on newer 64 bit OS. Sounds like I need to update the Mac OS before I install Office 2021, is that correct. Thanks so much for your help!

I guess update was the wrong wording. I’m installing Office 2021. I’ve read that I’ll have to uninstall Office 2011 first. I want to hold onto all of my email folders, calendar data, and contacts, so I’ll need to export the data and import to office 2021.

There are no upgrades of Office, they are all full versions, suuport including MS Updates for 2011 ended 2017

It depends on your macOS as to whether a current Office version can be installed on your Mac.

Generally when you install a later Office version all data is available on the new Office, there is no data that needs to be "exported" All previous docs can be opened
