How to stop Secure System from eating 80-90% of my ram? (SOLVED)

So I was using OneNote (office 365, so latest version) and then imported a large pdf file which caused it to slow the entire pc down. I later deleted the page, but the application continued to lag and so does the pc. Now every time I open OneNote, after 30-40 secs the process "Secure System" from the System32 directory starts and uses 0 CPU but 80-90% of all my RAM (16Gb). I have tried updating everything, from windows to OneNote and installed every thing, restarted several times, but the problem persists. I also have reduced the performance of OneNote (the setting that reduces performance to save battery life) from highest to medium but still no change. I have no idea what's causing this or how to revert it back to how it was. I have already deleted the page from the bin (all my notes are saved on OneDrive) but still nothing. Help

Adding to this thread because I think I've solved it:

Since my notes are saved on the cloud, OneNote syncs them every once in a while. After I added the large pdf file, OneNote started the syncronisation, but that on top of having to load such a large file on the page caused the pc to lag. When I deleted the page that was causing lag, it was deleted locally, but the sycnronisation didn't stop, so OneNote continued. Right now it's still lagging, but I hope by just wainting it's going to finish the old sycnronisation and stop lagging (I'm no programmer so it's just a guess). I'll updated this reply once it's done.

Edit: I can confirm it was the syncronisation. Every time it syncs it slows the entire pc down. For now I have disabled syncornisation, but I have yet to find a permanent solution. I'll try syncing the notepad that is giving problems a few more times. If it doesn't work I'll take it down from the cloud and reupload it.

Edit 2: waiting didn't work, taking it down and reuploading seemed to do it.

    Hello

I’m Adeyemi and I’d be happy to help you with your question.

I understand that you're experiencing high RAM usage by the "Secure System" process when using OneNote. This can indeed be frustrating. Here are some potential solutions:

    1. Check for suspicious processes: The "Secure System" process is typically a legitimate Windows process. However, if you notice it using a large amount of resources, it could potentially be a sign of a problem. You might want to run a full system scan with your antivirus software to rule out the possibility of malware.
    2. Disable unnecessary services: Some services, such as Superfetch and Windows Defender, can cause high memory usage. You can try disabling these services to see if it reduces the RAM usage.
    3. Clean up your files: If you've recently imported a large file into OneNote, it could be taking up a lot of memory. Try deleting any large files that you no longer need

If none of these solutions work, it might be a good idea to reach out to Microsoft Support for further assistance. They might be able to provide a more specific solution based on the exact version of OneNote and Windows you are using.
