Request for files using onedrive for home.

I have onedrive as a part of my 365 family subscription and I would like to collect photos and videos from my university batchmates by requesting for the files. I don't want to share the folder as I don't want them to mess with the folder as a prank. If I cannot directly request for files, is there any other way to go around it? Like by using other apps?

As far as I am aware, request file feature is available only on onedrive with school or work accounts. I have onedrive with personal account, as a part of my Microsoft 365 family plan. Is there any other way I can request for files?

I volunteer with a not for profit group that currently uses dropbox file requests to collect photos

How do I get the option to create file requests with my personal account. I can't understand why this feature is limited to student or a work account? I don't want my group to have to pay for their own account when I have licenses to share with them.

As others have mentioned I can't give everyone in the community edit access, allowing them to both view and alter. Like file request, those using the link should only be allowed to upload, not see or change anything else.

Hey there, my name is Ajibola and I'm excited to help you today!

If you want to collect photos and videos from your university batchmates using OneDrive, you can use the file request feature. This feature allows you to choose a folder where others can upload files using a link that you send them. They can only upload files; they can't see the content of the folder, edit, delete, or download files, or even see who else has uploaded files. This way, you can avoid any prank or misuse of your folder.

    • Go to the OneDrive website and sign in with your Microsoft account.

    • Select the folder where you want to collect the files.

    • Click Request files on the toolbar.

    • Enter a name for your request and click Next.

    • Copy the link that is generated and share it with your batchmates via email, message, or any other method
