A family of Microsoft products that enable users to capture, organize, and reuse notes electronically.
Dear respected MichaelBlare,
Welcome to Microsoft Community.
When you see the message "server not connected" in OneNote, it means that the application is unable to connect to the server where your notes are stored. This can happen due to a variety of reasons, such as network connectivity issues, server maintenance, or server downtime. To correct this problem, you can try the following steps:
- Check your network connection: Make sure that your device is connected to the internet and that your network connection is stable. If possible, change the connection with mobile phone hotspot.
- Restart OneNote: Close and reopen OneNote to see if the issue resolves itself. If possible, reboot the PC.
- Resign in the account. Sometimes, quit and resign in account will resolve the sync issue. Make sure all data has been backed up correctly like saved into a temporary Word document in case it will cause any possible data loss during the account resign in process.
Appreciate your understanding that sometimes the initial reply may not resolve the situation very soon. However, we can work together to narrow down and resolve the situation. Please kindly post back and provide the more information, then we can focus on your specific scenario and provide specific suggestions.
- If the error message happens on all of the notebooks?
- If you access OneNote Online and open the issue notebook in webpage, and then click the Edit icon> click Open in Desktop option from top-right corner, will it make the local OneNote app sync process recover again?
- Confirm theĀ current version of your Office suite and share back the Product Information screenshot for further troubleshooting: About Office: What version of Office am I using?
Appreciate your patience and understanding and thank you for your time and cooperation.
Sincerely
