Hello. I've just bought Office 365 for my Mac after years of having a university Office account. Every one of my previous saved Word docs now opens as a Pages document. How can I stop this please?

Try removing the old license, then reactivate Microsoft 365 with your new account.
HI Stefan. I hadn't but I have now. Thank you. Now, however, when I open my existing Word documents, i keep getting prompted to reactivate Office 365. When I do, firstly it keeps bringing up a previous university login where I used to work many years ago. Then, when I press to provide an alternative login and put in my new personal Office 365 details, I get prompted with the following message - I don't have a work or school account. I'm getting stuck here. Can you suggest anything please?

Hi. When I do 'open with' there is no Microsoft Word option. I imagine this is because although I have Office 365, I have no Word app as such on my dock/applications folder. Should I download the Word for Mac app, do you think and then follow the steps as you sent? Thanks
This is a system setting. You can choose which program should open a particular file type. See https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/mh35597/mac.
