CSV Files Not Opening up Separated / Mac Sonoma

Hello, I recently upgraded to an M2 Mac on Sonoma 14.1.1 (23B81).
I heavily depend on using CSVs for my work, and since the upgrade my CSV files are not opening up the same way they did on the i7 MacBook Pro 2019

On my previous MacBook after Ventura update I was able to use the terminal command workaround and it fixed the files.

On this M2 I can't seem to do that. I am in desperate need for a fix.

What is strange is using Text To Columns with the non-separated CSV file I can't even convert the decimal points such as .48 into % or numbers such as 123456 into comma separated after the file is converted into columns.

You won't find what Snow Lu described in point #1. That may be true in Excel for Windows but not in the Mac version. Instead go to File> Import or on the Data tab click the Get Data (Power Query) tool & select From Text (Legacy).

There should be no need to use Text to Columns once the data is imported & you should be able to apply formatting to the fields.

If not familiar with it you may want to investigate the Power Query feature for future use.

    Thank you for the reply.
I work heavily with CSVs importing is cutting into my efficiency drastically. I don't know why on my i7 mac with the same OS It works as it should and on the M2 it can't seem to work. Still looking for an answer and thank you for your reply.

Firstly thank you for the reply.

    1. Does not work, and is not convenient for me either my i7 Mac is on the same operating system and it opens up downloaded CSVs already separated and in the correct format.
    2. This method actually messes up the values for certain rows and is also not convenient for me.
    3. I tried this as well and nothing changed.

Could you share a screenshot of your issue?

    1. You may try importing the CSV file instead of opening it directly. To do this, open Excel and go to the Data tab. From there, select "From Text/CSV" and navigate to the location of your CSV file. Follow the prompts to import the data into Excel.
    2. Using the "Text to Columns" feature to separate the data into columns.

3.Change system separator to match the csv file.

In Excel> Preferences> Edit you can opt to use the System separators or specify custom Decimal & Thousands separators. Restart the program after making any changes.
