OneNote for Windows 10 is exclusive an app for Windows 10 while the OneNote app that's part of a Microsoft 365 or Office subscription can be installed on any version of Windows.

Now since you seem to be still experiencing the OCR issue even after reinstalling Office you need to contact a Microsoft representative for more advance help. The thing is you need someone to be remotely accessing your computer in real time and then resolving this issue for you. Our phone and chat people are capable of that.

Once you have the link opened, please do the following:

(1) Provide a brief description of your issue and click on Get Help;

(2) click on Contact Support at the bottom of the results that appear;

(3) click on Confirm after making sure what product you're having a problem with**;** and

(4) finally you will get the option to connect with an Office chat representative or to be called by an Office phone representative.

I had already tried the two solutions you suggested. In any case, thanks!

1. What I have noticed is that ONote for Windows 10 is much more reliable thant the one for Office. Is this correct?
2. However, it still doesn't recognize all the texts, and in some cases, it reverses the order of words in sentences, maybe because it's Arabic?
3. Can I send you a sample?

Have you tried to repair Office using the steps in the link below and see if the issue persists?

1. What version of OneNote are using? Is it the OneNote app included with Office? Or OneNote for Windows 10?

the version included for MS office profesional plus 2016. however i have the option for OneNote for W10

yes! enclosed please find a picture. I noticed that in Arabic there are not the same icons than in the rest of languages...

From the description you have provided OneNote's Optical Character Recognition (OCR) tool cannot copy text from a picture that is in Arabic. This happens even after installing the Arabic language pack.

This issue may be caused by OneNote settings that need to be changed. Or it may also be a problem with the computer you are using. So, let's work together as a team to get to the bottom of this. But to better assist you I need to ask:

1. What version of OneNote are using? Is it the OneNote app included with Office? Or OneNote for Windows 10?
2. What version of Windows are you using? We specifically need the edition and version number of Windows your device is running. To find out which version of Windows your device is running, press the Windows logo key + R, type winver in the Open box, and then select OK. You'll get the window below and we need the information highlighted in red.

3. How long have you had this issue? An exact date of when this issue occurred could prove helpful. If not possible an estimate in days, weeks or months will be fine too.
