Writing with Apple Pencil in OneNote looks bad (iPad Pro 11, 4th; iOS 16.1)

I have an issue where writing with Apple pencil leaves extra lines on letters. I believe this issue might be caused by the Pencil function "Hover". iPad takes input to write even when the Pencil is not touching the screen.

The hand writing works perfectly fine in native Notes app.

Unfortunately this bug is still present today. Tested on iPad Pro 12.9 M2.

I also have this issue. If you turn the hover off it fixes this issue. Hopefully they can fix this.

    Hello George,

I think pictures are sufficient to show the difference between Notes and OneDrive.

    Notes: https://www.mediafire.com/view/3h2wfi6l47hgr45/0DCBD560-327D-4123-B99F-3ACAC782D354.jpeg/file

    OneNote: https://www.mediafire.com/view/4s4i1aav4kv2r2o/684AF9BB-4E6C-463E-A262-20D8A95CB397.jpeg/file

Please see the extra lines on letters "H"; "l" and "O". Those lines are created when I am done with the particular letter and moving away from it, to draw the next one. For a brief moment of this movement, it still records a line , even when I am not already touching the screen.

I tested it, and if you are very close to the screen with the Pencil (less then 0.5 mm), it still records the movement while not touching the screen.

Looking forward hearing back from you,

    Jon

    Dear Jon,

    Sorry for the late reply.

Since Apple Pencil hover requires iPad Pro 11-inch (4th generation) or iPad Pro 12.9-inch (6th generation) and Apple Pencil (2nd generation), we lack the resources to test directly while you can turn off the feature Apple Pencil hover to test again. Please go to Settings> Apple Pencil and turn off Show Effects when using Pencil. After that, please check if you can still reproduce this situation or not. If the situation won't happen when turning off Apple Pencil hover, you can adopt it as a workaround.

Also, since it records the movement after testing and it works well in Notes, I would like to suggest you send feedback to Microsoft. Sorry for the inconvenience that happened to you.

    Appreciate your understanding and patience.

    Sincerely,

    George | Microsoft Community Moderator
