I can't see videos I took today on my iPhone 13 in the OneDrive app Photos Gallery

It's been working fine for a year, but I took a few videos today and when I went to the iPhone OneDrive app, the the videos didn't show in the Gallery. They showed in the iPhone Photos App.

Things I tried:

  1. Taking a photo -- showed in the OneDrive app Gallery OK
  2. Power cycling the iPhone.
  3. Verifying OneDrive app Background Refresh was on
  4. Verifying that the Camera app format was set to "Most Compatible"

5, Took another short video, Did not appear in the OneDrive Gallery.

  1. Verified that the photos were visible in the iPhone Photos app.
  2. Verified that I can see videos taken on other days in the OneDrive app Gallery
  3. Verified that I have plenty of OneDrive storage remaining (.5 TB)
  4. Noted that the videos are not particularly large.
  5. Noted that video format is H.264 on videos today and the same on prior ones that are showing OK.
  6. Updated the OneDrive app in the App Store.
  7. Power cycled the phone again.
  8. Started OneDrive app again and it said "Checking" for a long time, then "Up to date." No videos for today in the Gallery.

14, Looked at OneDrive settings: Photos: All Photos

  1. Noted that new videos not showing in Gallery didn't upload to OneDrive web.

16, Took a video with a 2ND iPhone on the same Microsoft account. It worked OK, uploaded the video to the cloud, and THIS video is now showing in my OneDrive Gallery on the first phone that can't see its own videos. The second iPhone is running iOS 16.6.1.

  1. Updated failing phone to iOS 16.7.1, took another video and verified it was missing from the Gallery

Changes since it last worked:

  1. I backed up the iPhone with iTunes for the first time and enabled Wi-Fi backup.
  2. Installed iOS 16.7 on the phone.

Update:

I used a USB cable to copy the videos from the iPhone to my Windows 11 PC into the OneDrive folder where the IOS app should have put them. Now they show in the iPhone OneDrive gallery.

This problem persisted from October 17 until October 31, when it miraculously started working again.

I note that my phone updated the OneDrive app to version 14.20.2 the day it started working.

No joy. No notifications or errors.

I had previously done all of those things except check permissions and that's OK. The odd thing is that only videos are affected; photos are fine.

    Hi LastGas,

It's great that you've already tried several troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue with OneDrive not showing videos on your iPhone. Since you've successfully copied the videos to your Windows PC and they now appear in the OneDrive gallery, let's focus on ensuring that your iPhone continues to work seamlessly with OneDrive:

    1. **Check Background App Refresh**:
      • Go to your iPhone **Settings > OneDrive**.
      • Make sure **Background App Refresh** is enabled for OneDrive.
      • This allows OneDrive to sync in the background even when the app is not actively open.
    2. **Verify Wi-Fi and Cellular Data**:
      • Ensure that you have a stable internet connection (preferably Wi-Fi) when using OneDrive.
      • Videos may not upload or sync properly over cellular data due to size limitations.
    3. **Restart OneDrive**:
      • Force quit the OneDrive app completely (swipe it away from the app switcher).
      • Reopen it and check if the videos appear in the gallery.
    4. **Check iOS Permissions**:
      • Go to your iPhone **Settings > Privacy > Photos**.
      • Make sure OneDrive has permission to access your photos.
      • If not, enable it.
    5. **Monitor Future Uploads**:
      • Take a new video on your iPhone and observe if it uploads to OneDrive as expected.
      • If it doesn't, check if there are any error messages or notifications from the app.

Keeping your iOS and apps up-to-date is essential for smooth functionality.

    I hope this helps!

    Regards, Sola
