The paid Microsoft 365 account I set up keeps opening to my son's profile under his public school email address.

I have a subscription to Microsoft 365 and every time I open it, it keeps reverting to my child's profile using his public school email account. No idea how this happened. I have to forcibly sign myself in using "switch accounts." Any idea how I can stop this from happening? I am afraid to delete his school email profile in case I lose the entire 365 account with all my important business files and work in OneNote. (FYI, I use a PC with Windows). Help!

Thank you. Yes I got that. Your child's school ID is logged in it seems. I recommend both of you use a separate profile in my opinion.

Open Google Chrome. Click the Profile button on the top-right corner. Click the Add person button. Choose a name, a photo, and a color for your profile. Click the Add button.

    I hope this helps.

Hi Sumit, Thank you for taking this on!

The version of Office 365 I have installed is the home version. I'm allowed to share it with my family, and I think my son may have used his school email to sign into it rather than his personal email. Whatever he did, I'm not sure why Microsoft Office constantly believes HE is the one signed in when it's under MY account.

Another problem--possibly related--is that when I open 365, I get a prompt to download all of its apps. As you will see in one of the two screenshots I'm including, I already have the apps. It's literally asking me to download stuff that is clickable in the bar a few inches to the side. Makes no sense.

Finally--also probably related--when I click directly onto OneDrive, Microsoft knows it's me and shows my profile.

As I mentioned previously, I could delete my son's school email account, but I'm concerned the 365 will then believe I've deleted MY account. Don't want to lose access to hundreds of documents.

I'm attaching two screenshots that will hopefully help to explain the situation. The first image is what happens when I click on the icon for Microsoft 365. As you can see, it believes my son is logged in. I have to click on "Use another account," and then it redirects me to another page where I enter my own email and password.

The second shot is what happens when I sign in to Microsoft 365. It doesn't show my name at the top, but it's definitely my account, because it lists all my recent work. To show you what I mean, I left the image of a document I created called "Electronic gadgets." Why is it asking me to install apps that are literally directly to the left of the screen? As you can see, Word is there, and if I click on that icon, it will take me to my own Word documents in OneDrive.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Hi, I am Sumit, and I will gladly assist you today. Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

The school ID possibly has policies forcing the O365 apps to sign in with the school account, unless the version you have installed is Home and Student.|

Would it work if we removed his Email account from the PC? Or do you both share a computer?

    Please keep us posted.
