Hi guys,

so i got a macbook and when I put my mouse on top of the colors or like types of charts or any shapes or anything, kt doesnt show a small box with the description of what my mouse is on top of. for example when you hover your mouse over the a blue color, it tells you the accent and when you do it when the graphs it tells you what type of graph it is. But when I hover my mouse over any of those things there is no box that shows and it makes it hard to use excel. is there a fix to this? thanks

    I just updated my MacBook to macOS Sonoma 14.2, and the issue was resolved for me! I recommend others to do the same as it should fix the issue. I tested it before I updated it, and I was still having the issue, but now the problem seems to be resolved with the 14.2 update!

    Hi

    Please, try the following.

    1. Use the Menu Bar and choose Tools > Macro > Visual Basic Editor
    2. In the Editor, look for the Immediate window. If it is not visible, use the View menu and choose Immediate Window.
    3. Type or paste this line of code into the Immediate window then press enter or Return. There will be no obvious change.
       application.DisplayFunctionToolTips=true

    4. Press Command-Q to exit the Visual Basic Editor.

    That command should turn the tool tips back on. Does it?

    Are you running any add-ins in Excel or in Sonoma?

    @All

    This appears to be some sort of compatibility issue affecting those who have adopted Sonoma. There is no known remedy at the user level other than the involved process of downgrading to earlier versions... not a recommended solution.

    Please use Help> Feedback to send sensible comments to Microsoft. The Feedback goes directly to the development team who are the ones responsible for devising a fix. In general, the greater the volume of complaints the sooner the issue will be addressed.

    Please update everyone if you find a fix. I'm having to do my computing classwork on campus in the lab because my fully capable M1 iMac at home won't display the color or theme descriptions when hovering.

    I'm guessing that you actually are referring to the Mini Toolbar which is an Office for Windows-only contrivance. It isn't a component of the Mac Office programs.

    If my guess is wrong please provide a more detailed explanation of what you mean. Also, include the specific Version Numbers of both Office & macOS.
