Onedrive revoke all sharing

Hi, I hope someone can help. My Outlook account was hacked a couple of weeks ago. It was probably due to some phishing request to reset my password.

Since the hack I have been trying to secure my files as best I can. I want to remove ALL SHARED ACCESS to my OneDrive account. I don't want any backdoor left on locked.

Ideally I would like to do some sort of global revoking of sharing. failing that is there an easy way to remove ALL SHARING for each folder? I want sub folders also sorted.

It is sad just how difficult it is to manage and secure files. It is as though Microsoft developers are going out of their way to make it difficult to manage one's security.

    Hi starbassfishing,

Thanks for writing us back. My apologies for the delayed response and for any inconvenience as I just get back to work today due to health reasons. I can't keep my head thinking about this while I'm away, and I'm glad we can continue working on this now.

I manage to check the options and it appears like this has changed on the latest interface of OneDrive.com. Just a heads up by the way that there is no one button or option to click to stop all the sharing just yet. Technically, it needs to be done on all folders or files in OneDrive you want to stop sharing. The steps are as follows.

    1. Sign in to your OneDrive account.
    2. Select the Shared option from the left pane.
    3. Select the Shared by me option.
    4. Select the Manage access option next to the file or folder that you want to stop sharing.
    5. Select the Can edit or Read only next to the person's name you shared with. Image
    6. On the account Access summary, click the Direct Access, then Can edit, and finally Remove direct access and confirm. Image
    7. Refresh or relaunch your OneDrive page and check if the shared file or folders are now removed. You can repeat the steps on the other files.

For any feedback that you want to share with us, we highly encourage you to submit it through the Feedback hub to let your voice be heard.

Hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any concerns or clarifications.

    Sincerely,

    Froilance T.

    Hi Froilance T.,

Thanks for the response. Everything matches what I am seeing when I sign in to your OneDrive account. Except step 5

"Select the Stop sharing option to revoke all sharing." I do not see this and it is very frustrating.

I would really really really like to see this option !!!!!!!!

BTW the Share and the Manage Access options should be merged and better designed.

    In you reply you said

"I would like to inform you that Microsoft will never send any form of emails that's asking you to reset your password without your request."

I will remind you that I didn't get any email nor did I respond to any email that asked for a password reset.

I was required to reset my password in response to direct authentication with Microsoft. .

"you can create a new email address and use it to sign up for a new Microsoft account."

That just adds one more email address that I do not wish to share.

    Hi Froilance T.

Thanks for the reply. I am afraid you didn't answer my main question. How do I revoke all sharing. In fact managing sharing is a dogs breakfast. In order to manage what I have shared I need to be able to get a definitive list of what I have shared. I just seems like Microsoft doesn't take the security concerns of its customers into account at any level.

I am sign into my account. That isn't the problem. The real problem is an easy effective macrolevel way of managing and more importantly revoking all sharing. It is beyond comprehension why this is all hidden and hard to do.

Actually come to think of it. It doesn't make sense that this breach was caused by phishing in the normal sense. The hacker gained my password due to a forced password change from Microsoft. The general problem as I see it is that Outlook is a piece of garbage. Unfortunately I need that account because everything runs off that one email address, including Onedrive and my Microsoft account. I have little confidence in this. Ideally no one should see the email address and I should be able to have another email as the notifying email. Again very hard to do.

Still the managing of shared Onedrive files is a big issue. When I share files and folders I often send out the email address that I don't like to use. I don't want people to know about this email address so it is really annoying. In any case sharing in OneDrive is very painful and insecure because the developers have an arrogant view of how people will use it.
