Excel Stock Data feature is BROKEN.

I opened an existing spreadsheet with existing Stock Data (many fields) that was working fine.

The stock data fields are all garbage now. Most show '#NAME?'. The contents look like '=_FV(Q10,"Name")'.

When I add a new stock ticker field ('AAPL') and make that into a Stock Data field, that step does work. That field looks correct. Then when I try to use the add column field, it just doesn't do anything. When I try using a formula like '=A1.Beta', I receive an error dialog box saying that the formula is not recognized (with hints about using a ' to make a formula not a formula, etc.).

I tried creating a New spreadsheet and had the same issues.

Basically, most of the Stock Data functionality is BROKEN and NOT WORKING at all!

See attached screenshots below.

I'm using Home Office (not 365) on a Mac desktop.

Office Home & Student 2021

Microsoft Excel for Mac

Version 16.79.2 (23112723)

What the 'formula' field looks like on the existing messed-up field:

In a New spreadsheet, after adding a stock data cell/field for AAPL, and then trying to add a stock data field for something (e.g. Beta). It looks like it should work...:

After I select 'Beta' field, I receive this error message and I cannot actually add the additional stock data fields (e.g. Beta, Price, etc.).:

    To try and clarify....

    1. We are currently tracking no service issues that are causing Stock data types to break in Excel. We get virtually pummeled with feedback from all over the world when data types go down. That's not the case at the moment. And internal tests are passing.
    2. There have been no changes in the licensing arrangement for data types, which have always required a subscription to M365.
    3. If there is a bug, it would appear to be in the 16.79.1 update in allowing data types to be available to non-subscription license users. This would be unfortunate, and I'm truly sorry if this is what happened.
    4. I'm assuming that 16.80 and 16.81 will work the same as 16.79.2, which is the expected behavior.

    Thanks,

    Chris

Ps. We read all feedback from Excel Insider beta users.

I am trying to build a new spreadsheet with the stock features and experiencing the exact same issues. I thought it might be me since others online seem to use the features easily, but I now figure its a system bug.

Yeah my issues with generating stock info are similar.

The feature worked to generate the company/asset name, then upon reload it only appeared as #unknown.

As for the other features, every time I tried to auto-add another column (such as ticker symbol, or price) I could select the option however the column would not appear.

You've got to be kidding me. It was working just fine until the last update. I have the one time purchase for Office Home 2021. Was this changed recently to remove it from the non-365 version?

So you (Evan) are also on Mac? Are you experiencing basically exactly what I am?
