Noto Sans Symbols font for PowerPoint.

Hello

I need help with Noto Sans Symbols font for PowerPoint.

I get an error while saving a presentation.

I have downloaded and installed Noto Sans Symbols font on my computer, but I still get the same error. (it's on and off. Sometimes I get the error, sometimes I do)

The presentation gets saved somehow, but sometimes it causes issues with the pictures (they disappear) or the SmartArt design text changes (different font color, bold characters, out-of-alignment text).

When I open the same PowerPoint through Google Drive in a browser, I see a lot of misalignment, font color changes, etc.

Can we make PowerPoint stable? I use Windows 10 Pro.

I appreciate any help you can provide.

Ruddhi

I have the same problem. I get "Noto Sans Symbols ... Font Not Available" when I am trying to save a PowerPoint document that is downloaded from Google Drive. And I have been checking things out here and other places. I was very surprised when I saw that MS agents/moderators were asking for a screenshot and download of text/document. And one with a comment saying Google Slides is less capable than PowerPoint! In this case, it is the opposite it seems, because MS has yet to support Noto series of fonts! Go to Google Fonts and you will see that Google supports all digital professional fonts. In any case, the solution is either

    1. Go to the "Format" menu when you have the presentation open, choose "Replace Fonts", pick Noto... from the "Replace" drop-down list and just pick another font that fits your need in the "With" drop-down field. If that does not work, then
    2. stop worrying because it will save the document but with the irritating message saying "Font Not Available". By the way, don´t go looking for the Noto font in the presentation. You will most likely not find it. It is most likely not in your text but a background that uses symbols and such.

And we can kindly ask the MS team to fix it. NO, they don´t need the document or a screenshot! MS knows already! I know that they know because I checked with my colleagues in Seattle.

    Hi there,

Just install the Font Family and it will solve the issue :)

I found an actual solution which worked for me:

    1. Open the PPT presentation file.
    2. On the File menu, select Options.
    3. Select the Save tab on the left side of the dialog box.
    4. Under Preserve fidelity when sharing this presentation, clear the Embed fonts in the file option.

The next time the presentation file is saved, any embedded fonts will be removed from the file.

The solutions are still the same as when I posted my previous reply. You can either check every bullet point on the slide master and every layout, or, if you can access a Windows computer, do a find and replace on the XML of the file. This is a problem caused by Microsoft using the macOS Emojis & Symbols utility for PowerPoint bullets. Here's my article on the subject with more detail: PowerPoint Font Embedding – Best Practices

Google Slides does not support "all digital professional fonts". You can only use Google fonts in Google slides.

If the Replace Fonts utility cannot replace the font, it's most often because that font has been used to format bullets or numbering in one of the slides or slide layouts.

It's possible to replace bullet/numbering fonts in PowerPoint for Windows by saving the file in XML format, doing a find and replace using a text editor, then resaving in PowerPoint to normal .pptx format. Please post again if you need the steps to do that.
