I have my chapter number in Roman Numerals, but I wanted to put a caption on a picture (which is in that chapter) with automatic numbering includes the chapter number. But I want the first number of the caption be an Arabic number. How to do it?
I will give you the example.
The document is written in Indonesian. BAB means Chapter. Gambar means Figures. I want to change the Roman number in "Gambar I.1" to "Gambar 1.1".
Here's a link to the example document.

I have sent another e-mail to the Office/Word product group. I'll post back with any news I receive.
I just checked in Word 2021 and the \* Arabic switch had no effect in changing any Roman numeral to Arabic. Works the other way, though.
I posted feedback which can be commented and voted on in the Feedback Portal.

When a caption number references a heading number, the caption number is actually composed of two fields: a STYLEREF which references the heading and a SEQ field which produces the sequential number. To reveal field codes, you can press Alt+F9 (or Alt+Fn+F9 on some keyboards).
To change the format of the STYLEREF to Roman numerals, add the \* ROMAN switch to each STYLEREF field.
You can set up a "sample caption" and save it as an AutoText entry for easy re-use.
Hello TrizaMardihaqq,
I’m Segunfunmi, an Independent Advisor and Microsoft user like you. Thanks for posting the query here in this forum.
You can change the numbering style of your captions in a Word document by modifying the caption style. Here are the steps to do it:
Go to the References tab and click Insert Caption to open the Caption dialogue box.
Change the Label to Figure.
Click Numbering to open the Caption Numbering dialogue box.
In the Format drop-down list, select the numbering format you want to use (e.g., 1, 2, 3, …).
Click OK twice to apply the changes.
You can also change the numbering style for all captions by modifying the field codes. To do this, press Alt+F9 to toggle the display of field codes, then use search and replace (Ctrl+H) to replace SEQ Figure \* ARABIC \s 1 with SEQ Figure \s 1.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions.
Kind Regards, Segunfunmi.
