Karl, I am unable to edit or create Word documents. There is a message just above the document that reads:

"Activate Microsoft 365 to create and edit. Your 2019 license is to supported with this version of the application"

At the far right there is an icon for "Learn More" and "Activate". Excel is functioning - am able to create and edit, however, Word has basically locked me out. It is essentially a Read Only program at this point.

So I go back to my original question, how do I continue to have full use of Word without purchasing Office365?

    Hello Dwight H

Hi, I'm Karl and will be happy to help you today.

Can you elaborate on what exactly you are referring to in terms of " I've just come to find out Office 2019 will no longer be supported"?

Support for Office '2019 ends in Oct '2025. Like any perpetual (one time purchase) license, all have a finite end data for support but the product can be used after support ends without any need to purchase a Microsoft 365 subscription

Can appreciate you marking the response as not resolving your issue / question but a little puzzled as to why that was done before providing the additional information that no one would have had any way of knowing making this a completely different question from what was originally asked. which was " I've just come to find out Office 2019 will no longer be supported. How can i continue to have full use of the 2019 version without having to purchase Office 365?". There was no mention of this involving only one Office app.

Office 2019 like all other Office editions is an all or nothing install and once it is activated, all apps in the suite are activated. It is not done on an app by app basis so it is very strange that just Word fails but Excel works. Something is missing from this description

#1 - What edition of '2019 is involved? (i.e. Office Home & Student or some other edition)

#2 - Is this something that went from a working to non-working scenario or has it never worked on this machine?

#3 - Is there any other edition of Office (i.e. Microsoft 365) installed on this computer?

Without knowing anything else about this - the general suggestion would be to

#4 - Ensure all Office suites are uninstalled from this computer #5 - Log into the Microsoft Account associated with '2019 and download / install it again via this link

Sorry but didn't notice that this is related to a Mac. Am not a mac user so best I leave this for someone who is specifically familiar with a Mac environment since I have no way to check anything.

in reference to "Will I lose all of my document folders?" - on a Windows system, document folders would bever be lost and as far as I know, it is no different on a Mac system. Would be absolutely crazy for documents to be lost by simly uninstalling Office

Apologies Karl, not very computer savvy

I opened WORD and at the top clicked on WORD. Here is what is displayed:

    Microsoft Word for Mac

    Version 16.81 (24011420)

    License: Not Activated

Belongs to: my email address listed

It was working fine on Sunday. Yesterday Word is read only. Looking for me to activate Microsoft 365, followed by

Your 2019 license is not supported with this version of the application. not sure what happened between Sun and Mon.

I have checked the application list and the only MS products displayed are:

    MS AutoUpdate - Version 4.67 last modified 01/19/24, 10:21

    MS Excel - Version 16.79.2 last modified 11/29/23, 13:24

    MS OneNote - Version 16.81 last modified 1/17/24, 13:48

MS Outlook - Version 16.79.3 last modified 12/4/23

    MS PowerPoint - Version 16.81 last modified 1/19/24, 10.23

MS Teams classic - Version 1.00.627656 last modified 10/10/23, 16:46

MS Word - Version 16.81 last modified 1/19/24

At present, Excel, Outlook and OneNote don't seem to be affected. PPT and WORD are the issue. I notice that both PPT and WORD were last modified on Jan 19. I don't know if that has anything to do with this or just coincidental.

I live in WORD and really need to get back in there.

I notice you recommend uninstalling, and the reinstalling. Will I lose all of my document folders
