Hi Jeanne, I am using Microsoft AI (I don't think it will ever take over human beings). I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble printing Avery labels 5662/8662 on your Epson XP 6100 printer. To resolve this issue, you can try the following steps:

    1. Open the document that contains the labels you want to print in Microsoft Word.
    2. Click on the "Mailings" tab and select "Labels" from the "Create" group.
    3. In the "Labels" dialog box, select the correct label vendor, which is Avery US Letter in this case.
    4. Select the correct product number, which is 5662/8662.
    5. Click on "OK" to close the dialog box.
    6. Click on "File" and select "Print" to open the print dialog box.
    7. Make sure that your Epson XP 6100 printer is selected as the default printer.
    8. Click on "Printer Properties" to open the printer properties dialog box.
    9. In the printer properties dialog box, select the "Paper/Quality" tab.
    10. Under "Media Type," select "Labels."
    11. Under "Paper Source," select the tray that contains the labels.
    12. Click on "OK" to close the printer properties dialog box.
    13. Click on "Print" to print your labels.

    3. In the "Labels" dialog box, select the label vendor as "Avery US Letter" and the product number as "5662" or "8662".
    4. Click on "OK" to close the dialog box.
    5. Type in the text you want to print on the label in the document.
    6. Load the label sheet into your printer.
    7. Click on "File" and select "Print".
    8. In the "Print" dialog box, make sure that the correct printer is selected.
    9. Click on "Print" to start printing the labels.

If your printer is detecting the label sheet as a CD/DVD, you may need to update the printer driver or contact the printer manufacturer for assistance.

You have not said which printer you have. However, a Goole search indicates that you are not alone.

    Thank you for your response.

I have the Epson XP 6100.

I totally uninstalled and reinstalled the printer yesterday. The drivers are updated regularly. I tried printing without the CD/DVD tray, still got the same error message. No matter what settings I use, I get the CD/DVD error message. I spoke with Epson at length yesterday and they finally concluded it wasn't a printer problem and gave me a Microsoft number to call, which directed me to this website. After talking with Epson, I decided to create new labels. I was able to print a couple sheets. Today I can't print those same labels and get the same error message.

    Hello Jeanne,

I'm Segunfunmi, an Independent Advisor and Microsoft user like you. Thank you for posting your query in this forum.

Let's try a few simple steps to see if we can fix the issue:

    1. ensure you have your printer's latest Windows 11-compatible driver. You can find this on the printer manufacturer's website.
    2. Check your label settings to ensure that you're using the correct template for your Avery labels and that the typed information is within the guidelines of the template.
    3. It might be a setting issue if your printer is trying to print to a CD/DVD instead of the labels. Try cancelling the print job from your computer and slowly pulling the CD/DVD tray out of the product to clear the error message. If an error is still displayed, turn off the product, wait a moment, and then turn it back on.
    4. If the above steps don't work, you could try uninstalling and reinstalling your printer.

I hope these steps help you get your Avery labels printed! Let me know if you have any further questions or need more help.

    Kind regards, Segunfunmi.
