Is ChatGPT for Excel free?

Hi,

I installed ChatGPT for Excel. I understood it was going to be free, but within an hour it wanted me to subscribe at $8.99/month or there abouts. So is the Basic free or is it just free for a given number of questions?

Thanks,

Shane

So this is a feature added to Excel which isn't actually free. I think it's a little deceptive to advertise it as free when in fact it's free to download but useless without a purchase of the actual power associated with it.

This leads me to a second question which I will post separately.

    Thanks Kevin

The add-in is free to install and use. It's a simple API to the ChatGPT web service. It's the ChatGPT service that is asking for money. Here is the ChatGPT pricing information:

AI's potential is unbounded and free depending on the source. I'm particularly interested in determining how it can be used in Excel.

    Thanks for your feedback.

Here is an article about using ChatGPT inside Excel. It looks like there are a lot of things it can do.
