One typeface in a font family will not display

Roboto bold typeface will not display in Word or other MS Office. The other five Roboto typefaces in this font family display fine. All Roboto files show up in Settings/Personalization/Fonts and in C:/windows/fonts folder. One online suggestion was to remove Word add-ins, but Word thinks I am not an administrator. Have just checked this and I am an admin even though Word does not recognize it. I guess I really have two problems! Please help. I need this font! Many thanks.

Actually, the way Word works is what most users want: they want to be able to apply Bold, Italic, or both without having to actually change fonts. It's enough of a pain to have to use a separate font for true Small Capitals. If you have other variants such as Condensed, Condensed Bold, Condensed Italic, and Condensed Bold Italic, they should work the same way. It is only when they don't (because the fonts aren't coded correctly) that a problem arises.

Word is generally set up to use the Bold and Italic variants of a font family when you use the Bold and Italic buttons.

    Thank you, Jazlyn.

Yes, I can see the font in Notepad! Good detective work!

I am embarrassed to admit I am running Word 2010. However, I just installed these Roboto fonts, so something went right up to a point: ten of the Roboto fonts are viewable and two of them are not viewable in the Microsoft apps. So I don't want to fully say the problem is inherent in running 2010.

    Thanks so much.

    Dear M E O T,

Good day! Thank you for posting your query in our community.

Based on your description, installed font doesn't show in Office 365 applications on your device.

Since you have installed the font on your computer and the font is visible in Fonts folder in C:\Windows, may I confirm whether you can see this font in non-Office applications such as Notepad?

If you can't see the font in the notepad, then you can try the steps in this article: Fonts Not Displayed When Installing New Fonts - Microsoft Support.

If you can see the font in the notepad, you could uninstall Office package completely with the uninstall support tool in this article: Uninstall Office from a PC(Option 2).

Then you could install Office via the steps in this article: Download and install or reinstall Microsoft 365 or Office 2019 on a PC or Mac.

    Sincerely,
