Hi,
I'm using version 16.42 (20101102) of Microsoft Word for Mac and am not able to activate Dark Mode for my documents. Although the toolbars are all dark, the page remains white. The option 'Switch Mode' does not appear on my PC. Is this normal ? Thank you.

    Dear respected HarshadG92.

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

I’m sorry you’re having a problem but based on your description we can work together to resolve it.

For the situation you encountered, we deeply understand the inconvenience caused and apologize for it.

As per your description, the option "Switch Mode" feature (View> Switch Modes from the ribbon) appear when users running Word Version 16.49 (Build 21050201) or later on Mac OS.

As you are using Word version 16.42 (20101102) and that's why you didn't see the "Switch Mode" feature option from your end.

However, as a workaround in your Word version have you tried go to Design > Page Color and select the black color.

Switch Modes should be located on the View tab when Dark Mode is enabled. It also can be selected by going to Word> Preferences - General to choose the dark page mode option.

If you have neither it may be due to the version of your Office software. I believe the preferences in Word became available in version 16.49 so updating may make a difference if your macOS supports that or later.

Just be sure that when you print (or PDF0 that the box is not checked in Word> Preferences> Print for Print background colors & images. Otherwise you'll waste a lot of ink/toner. It actually calls for the chosen Background Color to be printed.

If the box is not checked, though, some other elements may not print.
