This is not a viable workaround, since adding a new sheet to even a template file will give that new sheet the default margins again.

I want to change the default settings in Excel. I have MS 365 with Excel on my computer, and the computer version is what I use. I have looked online and have gotten instructions to go to Page Layout > Margins > change the dimensions, and click "default. But there is NO "default" option to click. What can I do? Thanks.

One way would be to open a new EXCEL file then set up your margins there then save that file off as a Template.
From that point onwards just open the Template to set up a new file with your default margins.
Estimated time to set up: 5 minutes or less.
