You can also format each heading as a hyperlink back to the TOC (as is done in e-books).

You can add the Go to TOC button to the Quick Access Toolbar via File > Options > Quick Access Toolbar.

Alternatively, press Alt+Left arrow to return to the hyperlinked TOC entry you (just) clicked on.

Hello, I’m Ajibola and I’m happy to help.

    “In this article (https://infoinspired.com/how-to-guides/how-to-create-a-clickable-custom-table-of-contents-in-microsoft-word-or-pdf/)

To create a Word document with clickable chapters and content pages, you need to use headings to structure your document and then insert a table of contents that links to the headings. You can also use bookmarks and hyperlinks to create custom links to different parts of your document.

    “In this article (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/how-to-create-a-pdf-with-clickable-table-of/ba3386ff-a687-4be7-8dbc-72f24bb538a8)

To create a PDF document with clickable chapters and content pages, you need to use software that supports creating bookmarks and links in PDF files, such as Adobe Acrobat or a similar tool. You can also convert your Word document to a pdf document and preserve the links and bookmarks you created in WordPDF.
