How do you group an image with a text box?

Normally if you select one image and hold ctrl you can select something else, such as a text box, to group it together but it is no longer working. They have both been set to "top and bottom" wrap text, and I have tried other settings but nothing seems to work. Is there another way to group them together?

    Hello,

My name is EngineTyme, an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you and I would be glad to help you.

I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble grouping an image with a text box in Word. Here are the steps to group them together:

Press and hold Ctrl on your keyboard. Click on the image and the text box to select them both. Go to the Picture Format or Shape Format tab. Click on the Group button. Select Group from the drop-down menu.

If the Group button is grayed out, it may be because the objects are not compatible for grouping. Make sure that the Wrap Text option for each object is set to something other than In line with Text.

If the above steps do not work, it is possible that the text box and image are set to “In Line with Text” wrapping style. In this case, you will need to change the wrapping style to something else, such as “Top and Bottom” or “Behind Text”. To do this, follow these steps:

Click on the image or text box. Click on the Layout Options icon that appears next to the object. Select a different wrapping style from the list of options. If you are still unable to group the image and text box together, you can try copying and pasting them into a new document and then grouping them there. Alternatively, you can try using a different program, such as PowerPoint, to group the image and text box together

You can only group the image and the text box if they both have their Text Wrapping set to something other than "In line with text." This is by design in Word.

As an alternative, insert a drawing canvas (Insert tab > Illustrations group > Shapes > New Drawing Canvas) and add both objects to the canvas.

Can you close word, restart your computer and try group the picture from PowerPoint again?

Update - I have used the steps to group the two together, however that was not working, no matter what wrapping style was chosen. I have attempted to group them on powerpoint as suggested and then place them into the Word document, however now I cannot choose a wrap text option and now the grouped image is in front of the text. The picture shows me only selecting the picture, however it forces me to keep the text box selected at the same time and does not allow me to select only one of the grouped items.
